Loved Pachinko too! Favorites were Olga Dies Dreaming and The Round House. As far as a non-favorite, did not enjoy the Land of Milk & Honey, it was very dystopian and some of the plot was not ideal as a vegetarian!

Ooh, I really loved Olga Dies Dreaming and will check out the Round House. Verrry interesting/gross sounding takeaway for Milk & Honey lol, good to know!

Adding Annihilation, Telephone and Honor to my 2024 list!

For 2023, I really enjoyed The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois, Kairos (Jenny Erpenbeck), and Lonesome Dove. Each one vastly different but satisfying in their own ways. Love Song and Lonesome Dove are pretty long but worth the journey!

Did not care for The City We Became or The Midnight Library. Both had neat plots but poor execution.

Yesss, adding your favs too! I think I had given the City We Became 4 stars (a 3.5 in my head) - I thought the plot was so creative and overrated that but completely agree it was not pulled off with finesse.

Great list! On my end, I feel like 2023 was filled with too many books read in a complete fever dream of sleepless nights, but there were two standouts: 'Bunny' (Mona Awad), which was so deliciously fucking weird, and 'The Country of the Blind' (Andrew Leland), which was equal parts funny, touching, and informative. Can't wait to get your scoop on your fav short stories :)

Bunny was fantastic, I'm real excited to read 'Rouge' that she released this last Fall too! And good to know; I had heard of Country of the Blind but I'll bump it up and read it soon!
